The south of England boasts a tremendous collection of historic British sights and there is always something to see or do that will keep you entertained whether you are a visitor/tourist or a long-time resident – which is why our sightseeing tours are a perfect day out for anyone! With so much to see it can be difficult to decide which places to visit, so here we have provided you with five of the most popular attractions (in no particular order).

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is a great place to experience some true British heritage, it is an official residence of Her Majesty the Queen as well as being the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world. Take a guided tour through the stunning interior to see the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, and St. Georges Chapel. There are various exhibitions held in the castle all year round and a huge amount of things to see within the castle.

Many myths surround this prehistoric monument, how the stones were transported before the invention of the wheel or without the aid of a pulley system is still not known and debated by many. The stones are a great sight to see and there are audio guides and tours which allow you to get the most out of your trip, the Stonehenge exhibition is an amazing opportunity to discover the story of the stones and explore the vast ancient landscape surrounding Stonehenge.

Highclere Castle

Home to the Earls of Carnarvon since 1679, the stunning Highclere Castle is a wonderful piece of British heritage. The main filming location of the television drama Downton Abbey is beautiful inside and out and has a lot of history which the guided tour will teach you. Although the castle is closed to visitors most of the year round it is definitely worth visiting during the spring and summer opening periods.

Roman Baths

The Roman baths are one of the most visited heritage sites in the United Kingdom and one of the best preserved Roman remains in the world, as well as the opportunity to walk on the ancient pavements and view The Great Bath you can explore many treasures in the interactive museum with visual snippets that transport you back to Roman times and the lives of the Aquae Sulis people.

Buckingham Palace


Since 1837 Buckingham Palace has been the principal residence and workplace of the reigning Monarch of the United Kingdom.
